What is K1 & Kickboxing?

Kickboxing and K1 might sound similar, but there are some key differences. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Kickboxing: Kickboxing focuses primarily on punches and kicks from Western boxing and Muay Thai. It’s a dynamic and effective striking art perfect for fitness and self-defence.
  • K1: K1 on the other hand, is a more intense ruleset that incorporates elements from Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate, and even Savate (French kickboxing). K1 allows for a wider range of strikes, including knees, elbows, and throws. 

Both Kickboxing and K1 offer incredible workouts and can be excellent choices for self-defence training.

K1 and Kickboxing FAQs

A: We understand how anxious you might be stepping into a new gym but don’t panic! Our Kickboxing and K1 classes in Sydney cater to all levels and we'll guide you through the basics at your own pace.

A: We recommend comfortable clothing like shorts, a T-shirt, and sneakers. We also recommend bringing a water bottle and a towel – you can thank us later. 

A: Not for your first few classes. We have all the necessary equipment available for you to use. As you progress, however, you may want to invest in your own gloves, shin guards, and hand wraps.

A: Like any physical activity, Kickboxing and K1 do indeed carry a slight risk of injury. However, our classes emphasize proper technique and safety precautions to minimise the risk level and keep you and your fellow students safe.

A: Not unless you want to. Kickboxing and K1 training are excellent for fitness, self-defence, and personal development. Competition is entirely optional and you will not be judged either way.
